When you’re a photographer, you’re on 24/7. There’s no “time off.” I was out drinking with some friends tonight, got a good buzz going on, some might say “drunk” but I’d like to think that I wasn’t…I’m just a light weight. 11:30pm, I’m on the phone texting back and forth with a potential client…um it looks like I just booked and scheduled a shoot for 9 am tomorrow. Hmmm, wonder if any of my team members are available.

First up, hair and make-up because that’s crucial. I text Madeline to see if she’s available, it’s kind of late, but I know that she’s up…she’s always up. She’s booked tomorrow at 10:30, but she’s going to squeeze me in. Check. I text client back to let her know we’re good to go.

Next up, assistants. Time to text Darren. No response. Okay.

Well, let’s check with interns. Eric Wainwright…not available, he has his own shoot scheduled. Linzy Slusher…yes, but she’s going to be really tired. She just got off her shift at the hospital.

It would be nice to go home and get some rest, but I’m kinda sloshed and I shouldn’t be driving. I guess I’ll stay a little longer to sober up. Wait, how did I just get another drink in front of me? WTF?

Okay, I think I’m good to go. Wait, Darren hasn’t responded yet. I know where he is. I’m going to track that fool down. I roll up to the club, skipped the long line of people waiting outside to get in, said hi to some people, tracked Darren down.

Q: “Hey you get my texts?”
D: “Yeah, sorry I haven’t responded. I have some stuff going on tomorrow, I don’t think I can.”
Q: “I need you.” (gives Darren a friendly slap to the face)
D: “Okay, how long do you think it’ll take? 4 hours?”
Q: “No, we’ll be done before 3 hours.”
D: “Okay, I’ll be there.”
Q: “Turn on your phone so I can call you to wake you up.”
D: “Don’t worry, I’ll be there.” (Darren smiles mischievously)

Now we’re set. And that’s how I book a shoot while intoxicated.

Time for bed, gotta be up in 6 hours for photoshoot. =)
